Doppel has strengthened its global cybersecurity leadership strategy by appointing Ciaran Martin, founder of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), as a strategic advisor. Through this move, the company aims to accelerate its mission of building large-scale, nation-aligned defenses against social engineering threats that are rapidly evolving due to artificial intelligence. As AI continues to reshape the threat landscape, organizations face a dramatic increase in both the volume and sophistication of social engineering attacks, making advanced defense strategies more critical than ever.

Martin brings extensive public sector and cybersecurity leadership experience to Doppel. He founded the UK’s NCSC and served as its first CEO, helping shape national cyber defense strategies during a critical period of digital transformation. In addition, he spent 23 years serving in the UK Government, working directly under five Prime Ministers. Throughout his career, he held senior roles across key institutions, including HM Treasury, the Cabinet Office, and the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ). Beyond government service, Martin remains deeply engaged in cybersecurity leadership and academia. He currently serves as Professor of Practice at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government and holds leadership and advisory positions across the cybersecurity ecosystem, including UK Chair of CyberCX UK, Director of the SANS Institute’s Cyber Leaders Forum, and Managing Director at Paladin Capital.

By bringing Martin on board, Doppel is also expanding its strategic presence across the UK, European Union, and Five Eyes government markets. Consequently, the company is reinforcing trusted relationships with global cyber authorities while strengthening its enterprise go-to-market strategy. Furthermore, Doppel continues to position social engineering defense as a systemic, board-level business risk rather than a standalone technical security function.

“There’s so much chatter about AI and cybersecurity, and it’s really hard, but really important, to focus on what’s actually happening in the real world, away from the hype,” said Martin. “The main change AI has brought about in cybersecurity is that AI is the scale, quality, and sophistication of social engineering attacks is hugely on the up. And that trajectory will only accelerate in the years ahead. It’s very worrying. Countering it requires world class, usable technical solutions. Doppel’s ability to unify threat intelligence, automated takedowns, and real-world preparedness in a single system is exactly what’s needed. I look forward to joining this effort and helping fight the growing wave of online impersonation and fraud.”

Meanwhile, Doppel continues to strengthen its global expansion strategy. Recently, the company appointed Steve Murphy, former Senior Vice President for EMEA at Tanium, as VP of Sales for the EMEA region to drive regional market growth. Additionally, Doppel expanded its physical presence by opening a larger office footprint in San Francisco. At the same time, the company is scaling its workforce, with more than 60 open roles across major global locations including San Francisco, New York, and London.

“Social engineering is a global challenge, not one confined to the United States, which is why expanding our international reach is a priority,” said Bobby Ford, Chief Strategy and Experience Officer at Doppel. “Ciaran is a globally respected cybersecurity leader, and his guidance will be instrumental as we expand and help organizations better understand the changing nature of social engineering attacks.”

Ultimately, this strategic growth reinforces Doppel’s positioning as an AI-native cybersecurity platform designed to protect modern digital economies. As phishing, impersonation, and fraud attacks continue to expand across email, messaging platforms, and social channels, organizations require defense capabilities that go beyond traditional security awareness training. Therefore, Doppel focuses on proactively disrupting social engineering campaigns by combining threat intelligence, automated takedowns, red teaming exercises, and real-world preparedness strategies. By protecting both technical infrastructure and human targets, the company aims to reduce financial losses, protect executive identities, and help organizations operate more securely in an increasingly AI-driven threat landscape.
