Akamai has announced that Deutsche Telekom Security, a member of the Akamai Partner Connect program, is now leveraging Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider initiative to deliver advanced cybersecurity services to customers across high-risk and highly regulated industries. These sectors include finance, insurance, critical infrastructure, and public sector organizations, where security, resilience, and data sovereignty are top priorities.
Through Akamai’s Security Certified Service capabilities, Deutsche Telekom Security is enhancing its portfolio with proactive Day-2 operations services. As a result, customers can now benefit from continuous, end-to-end support throughout the entire API security lifecycle. This expanded service offering goes beyond basic protection and focuses on long-term operational excellence. It includes full management of hybrid deployments, structured quarterly business reviews, and comprehensive API audits and compliance support. In addition, Deutsche Telekom Security now provides expert-led security incident management alongside proactive API security testing, helping organizations identify and address weaknesses before attackers can exploit them.

At the same time, Deutsche Telekom Security is extending its services around Akamai Guardicore Segmentation environments. These specialized capabilities include segmentation administration, incident response, and audit and compliance services. Importantly, these offerings can also operate on a sovereign cloud, addressing the growing demand for local data control and regulatory alignment, particularly within Europe.
“We’re seeing great results with Akamai’s enhanced Security Certified Service Provider programs,” said Christian Günther, Head of Sales Major Accounts, Deutsche Telekom Security. “As an early adopter, we’re providing our customers even better API security and software-defined segmentation support. This helps them stay secure and compliant with regulations, even in a dynamic cybersecurity landscape that’s becoming increasingly complex.”
The expansion of Akamai’s Security Certified Service Provider programs directly responds to the rising need for stronger API security and microsegmentation, especially in industries that remain prime targets for cybercriminals. According to Akamai’s 2025 State of the Internet (SOTI) report, recorded API attacks skyrocketed to 150 billion between January 2023 and December 2024. Such attacks frequently result in financial losses, data exposure, and reputational harm, reinforcing why organizations must prioritize both API protection and segmentation strategies as part of a modern security architecture.

Deutsche Telekom Security continues to position itself as a trusted managed security partner for the financial services industry. Its long-standing experience, deep regulatory knowledge, and broad portfolio of advanced cybersecurity services enable financial institutions to protect sensitive environments while meeting strict compliance obligations. With round-the-clock monitoring and dedicated security experts, the company helps organizations reduce risk without diverting attention from their core operations.
Recently, Deutsche Telekom Security deployed Akamai’s software-defined segmentation solution for a major state bank in Germany. This implementation played a key role in strengthening the bank’s critical infrastructure and ensuring full adherence to regulatory standards, underscoring the real-world impact of the partnership.
