Armis, a cyber threat exposure management and security company, has announced that Multicedi, one of the leading food distribution groups in central and southern Italy, is leveraging the Armis Centrix platform to enhance its cybersecurity posture and gain greater control over its rapidly expanding digital environment. By adopting Armis’ cyber threat exposure management solution, Multicedi is shifting from a reactive security model to a proactive, intelligence-driven approach designed to anticipate risks before they disrupt operations.
Before implementing Armis Centrix, Multicedi’s IT teams often addressed critical security issues only after malfunctions or anomalies occurred. Today, that model has fundamentally changed. With real-time visibility across its entire device ecosystem, the company can now continuously monitor, classify, and assess assets across its infrastructure. As a result, security leaders can detect new devices as soon as they connect to the network, evaluate risks based on business criticality, and define mitigation strategies that align with both operational needs and regulatory requirements.

“Before adopting Armis, critical issues were only addressed after malfunctions or anomalies had already occurred,” explains Livio De Prisco, Chief Information Officer at Multicedi. “With Armis Centrix, the approach has completely changed: instead of reacting after the fact, the company now has real-time visibility across its entire fleet of devices and can manage it proactively. We can detect devices added to the network, prioritize risks based on their criticality, and define action plans and budgets that comply with our operational and regulatory requirements.”
This strategic move comes at a pivotal time in Multicedi’s digital evolution. Over the past few years, the company has launched an extensive digital transformation program to modernize its applications and infrastructure backbone. This initiative has reshaped its accounting, logistics, and business management systems, while also driving a phased migration of workloads to the cloud. However, managing more than 2,500 physical and virtual assets across central offices, secondary facilities, and remote warehouses introduced new complexity and risk. Consequently, the organization recognized that cybersecurity would be essential to sustaining innovation and protecting business continuity.

Within the first month of deploying Armis Centrix at its primary network hub, Multicedi uncovered a critical insight: approximately 10 to 15 percent of active devices were unregistered or previously unknown. Identifying these unauthorized or unsupervised assets common in distributed environments with multiple logistics sites enabled the IT team to respond quickly and reduce the likelihood of zero-day vulnerabilities impacting the wider network. Moreover, Armis allowed the team to map the physical location of connected devices, as well as associated switches and network ports, which significantly accelerated response times during anomalies, device failures, or replacements.
“Cybersecurity is essential for business continuity, particularly in critical infrastructure sectors like retail, as evidenced by the global cyberattacks earlier this year that emptied supermarket shelves,” said Nicola Altavilla, Regional Director for the Mediterranean at Armis. “Given the advances made by cybercriminals using artificial intelligence to wreak havoc, being able to anticipate attacks is more important than ever. Armis is proud to support international retailers like Multicedi in strengthening their cybersecurity and adopting a more proactive approach to protecting their environment from cybercriminals.”
Building on the success of the initial deployment, Multicedi now plans to extend Armis Centrix across its entire network of more than 600 company-owned and affiliated stores. Looking ahead, the company aims to establish unified cybersecurity standards for over 250 partner organizations, tailoring the platform to different operational scales and investment capacities. Ultimately, Armis Centrix will serve as a cornerstone of Multicedi’s long-term digital transformation strategy, supporting secure growth, stronger governance, regulatory compliance, and a more resilient security culture across the enterprise.
