Action1, a pioneer in autonomous endpoint management (AEM), has announced a significant initiative for this year’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM). Throughout October, the company will double endpoint coverage for all existing customers and free-tier users worldwide at no cost, giving IT teams expanded visibility and protection against rising cyber threats.
Traditionally, Cybersecurity Awareness Month has focused on building knowledge and encouraging caution. Action1, however, is reframing the conversation by emphasizing practical action. With attackers exploiting weaknesses faster than ever, the company’s move underscores the urgent need for immediate remediation and proactive defense.

Recent findings from the Action1 2025 Software Vulnerability Ratings Report highlight the scale of the challenge. In 2024 alone, newly identified vulnerabilities surged by 61%, while actively exploited flaws nearly doubled, increasing by 96%. To help organizations respond effectively, Action1’s expanded coverage allows IT teams to scan, detect, and patch vulnerabilities across twice as many devices — without adding financial burden.
“Awareness is important, but true security comes from action,” said Mike Walters, President and Co-founder of Action1. “Organizations without patch management average around 2,600 unpatched vulnerabilities per 100 endpoints, including 130 that can be directly exploited. With just four weeks of structured patching, that number can fall to 1,500 total and only 37 exploitable vulnerabilities. If even half of the world’s five million small organizations adopted this approach during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we could collectively eliminate nearly 5 billion unpatched flaws — including half a billion exploitable ones. That would be a measurable step toward a safer digital ecosystem.”

Smaller businesses and under-resourced organizations are often hardest hit by cyberattacks due to limited visibility and weak patch management capabilities. By removing cost barriers, Action1’s initiative ensures that even the most resource-constrained teams can strengthen their defenses.
“Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, and this effort aligns with CAM’s mission of collective resilience,” Walters added. “Our goal is to make effective endpoint protection more accessible and actionable for organizations of every size, especially at a time when the threat landscape continues to intensify.”
By turning awareness into action, Action1 is enabling IT teams around the globe to take measurable steps in reducing risk, closing vulnerability gaps, and protecting digital assets — not just during Cybersecurity Awareness Month, but well beyond.
