Kontron, a global leader in Internet of Things (IoT) and Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), has entered into a strategic partnership with Exein, the world’s largest provider of embedded runtime security. The collaboration will see Exein’s advanced cybersecurity technology integrated into Kontron’s product ecosystem, bolstering protection across edge and AI-driven environments.

As part of the agreement, Exein’s security solutions will be embedded into KontronOS—the hardened, Linux-based operating system designed for edge devices—and KontronAIShield, Kontron’s AI-powered security tool. Together, these enhancements will deliver real-time, AI-enabled defenses against fast-evolving cyber threats.

The alliance comes at a critical time: research published in July revealed that global cyberattacks surged by 21% year-over-year in Q2 2025, with Europe recording the sharpest increase at 22%.

By combining Kontron’s decades of expertise in industrial computing with Exein’s device-level runtime protection, the two companies aim to create an end-to-end security architecture spanning from runtime environments to network infrastructure. This integration strengthens the European cybersecurity ecosystem and sets new standards for safeguarding hyper-connected industries.

Kontron’s 3,000+ customers in more than 20 countries—including those in manufacturing, energy, healthcare, automotive, and infrastructure—will now benefit from security that is both proactive and regulatory-compliant. The offering is designed to meet the EU’s RED 3.3 directive (enforced since August 2025) and the forthcoming EU Cyber Resilience Act, which will mandate vulnerability reporting starting in September 2026 ahead of full enforcement in December 2027.

Stefan Eberhardt, Business Developer IoT Software at Kontron Europe, commented:

“With this partnership, we are extending our cybersecurity portfolio to cover every potential threat scenario. By embedding resilience directly into our solutions—beyond traditional antivirus or standalone tools—we can deliver a new level of trust and protection across both new and legacy environments, from edge to cloud.”

Gianni Cuozzo, Founder and CEO of Exein, added:

“We’re proud to partner with an IoT industry leader like Kontron to deliver device-level security on a global scale. Embedding Exein’s technology within Kontron’s platforms establishes a new benchmark for resilience and compliance, while reinforcing Europe’s position as a global leader in connected security.”

This milestone marks a pivotal step for European cybersecurity, as two innovators unite to create a more secure digital future for critical industries worldwide.
