As Head of Research & Innovation, Portnoy will spearhead Mindgard’s applied research initiatives, advancing product development to stay ahead of evolving AI security risks. With a distinguished career, Portnoy previously led the Zero Day Initiative at TippingPoint/3Com (later part of HP and Trend Micro), where he architected and judged the first six Pwn2Own competitions, a prestigious event rewarding zero-day exploit demonstrations. He co-founded evacuation Intelligence, defining the exploit intelligence market, and built Randori’s security R&D program before its acquisition by IBM. His leadership experience also spans roles at Raytheon and his recent position as the inaugural Hacker Fellow at Dartmouth College, focusing on interdisciplinary cybersecurity research.
“AI security is still at an early stage,” said Aaron Portnoy. “As these systems become integral to business operations, adversaries will increasingly target them in ways many organizations are not prepared for. At Mindgard, we’re leveraging offensive security techniques that have protected applications for decades to build resilient AI defenses from the ground up.”
